How to use the kandi pattern maker

To make a kandi cuff pattern from a picture, upload it, set how many beads go around your wrist, keep it to 6–10 colors and follow the row-by-row bead list. Each row reads like “3 red, 2 white, 3 red”, so you can string without counting squares.

  1. 1

    Upload a simple picture

Bold shapes and few colors work best: hearts, fruit, balloons, logos you own.

  2. 2

    Set beads around

Lay pony beads along your wrist to count how many fit, then set the width.

  3. 3

    Keep 6–10 colors

Fewer colors make the design readable on small pony beads.

  4. 4

    String row by row

Tick off each row in the bead list as you go; counts include 10% spare beads.

Pick your stitch: single, x-base, peyote or loom

The chart works as a straight grid for loom and x-base cuffs. For peyote, read every row offset by half a bead — the row list stays the same.

Single-strand bracelets only need one row: set the height to 1 and the pattern becomes a color sequence.

How wide should my cuff be?

Measure, don’t guess: wrap a strand of pony beads around your wrist loosely and count. Most adult cuffs land somewhere in the 20s; children’s are smaller. Set that number as the width and the picture is fitted to it.

Peyote and brick stitch with seed beads

For seed-bead peyote or brick stitch, use more columns (Delica 11/0 beads are tiny) and keep the same 6–10 color rule.

How to make a kandi cuff, step by step

A kandi cuff is several rows of pony beads joined into a wide, stretchy band. With a pattern from this page:

  • ✕Cut about 1.5 m of elastic cord and string the first row exactly as the bead list shows.
  • ✕Tie the first row into a loop that fits your wrist — this is your base row.
  • ✕For each new row, add one bead and pass the cord through the matching bead of the row below (x-base or peyote), following the row list.
  • ✕Tick off rows as you go; after the last row, knot the cord twice and tuck the ends inside a bead.

Kandi bracelet patterns and ideas

Kandi bracelets started as single strands spelling words or colors; cuffs turned them into pixel pictures. Good kandi ideas for a first cuff: hearts, fruit, rainbow stripes, smiley faces, your initials or a favourite animal — anything with bold shapes and few colors.

Questions people ask

Q.01How do I make a kandi cuff pattern from a picture?

Upload the picture, set the number of beads around your wrist, limit it to 6–10 colors and follow the row-by-row list. Pony beads (9 mm) are the usual choice.

Q.02How do you make a kandi cuff?

String a base row of pony beads on elastic, tie it into a loop, then add rows one at a time by passing the cord through the beads of the row below. Follow the row-by-row list and knot twice at the end.

Q.03How many beads do I need for a kandi cuff?

Width × rows gives the bead count; the list shows each color’s count plus 10% spare. A 26-around, 10-row cuff uses 260 beads before spares.

Q.04Can I make peyote patterns here?

Yes. Read the chart with every row offset by half a bead; the row-by-row list works for even-count flat peyote.

Q.05Is the kandi pattern maker free?

Yes, making, editing and printing kandi patterns up to 30 columns is free with no sign-up.
